More than $35 billion was spent in over 11,000 impact investments last year and investors plan to commit 8% more capital in impact deals in 2018.

The Annual Impact Investor Survey of 229 global impact investors, released by the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) this week, reported that almost all respondents said their investments have “met or exceeded their expectations” for impact (97%) and financial (91%) performance.

A large portion of capital managed by fund managers making private equity impact investments is raised from family offices and high net worth individuals (HNWIs), new research finds.

Up to 37% versus only 5% of the capital managed by private debt focused fund managers came from family offices and HNWIs, according to the seventh annual Impact Investor Survey 2017. The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) surveyed the views of 209 respondents who together managed more than $114 billion in impact investing assets.

Walmart reports huge jump in US online sales

The family-owned retail giant Walmart has reported a modest rise in total revenues and a much larger increase in US online sales.

As it looks to take on e-commerce behemoths such as Amazon, the US-based retailer achieved a 63% rise in US online sales in the first quarter of this year.

Walmart’s online ambitions were demonstrated last year by its $3.3 billion acquisition of the internet retailer Jet.com.

Family offices and high net worth individuals continue to be among the leading investors in impact investments, despite increasing interest from mainstream financial institutions, according to a new report.

Released by the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) and JP Morgan, the sixth annual Impact Investor Surveyfound that wealthy individuals and families accounted for 11% of total capital raised by fund managers.
