Second gen Bob Fisher will become chairman of the clothing retailer Gap, which his parents founded more than 40 years ago, at the start of the next financial year.

Second gen Bob Fisher will become chairman of the clothing retailer Gap, which his parents founded more than 40 years ago, at the start of the next financial year.

The company announced on Friday that non-family chairman and chief executive Glenn Murphy, who has been at the helm since 2007, would be retiring next February.

Non-family member Art Peck, who joined the company a decade ago, will take over as chief executive, while Fisher, who joined the board in 1990, will become chairman.

In December, the Foreign Investment Promotion Board approved a 7.2 billion rupee (€85 million) investment proposal from the Swedish chain to create a wholly-owned subsidiary in the country.

Swedish family empire H&M has been granted approval from the Indian Foreign Investment Promotion Board to launch its stores in the South Asian country, the government announced on Monday.

Swedish family empire H&M has been granted approval from the Indian Foreign Investment Promotion Board to launch its stores in the South Asian country, the government announced on Monday.

The 7.2 billion rupee (€85 million) investment will allow the fast-fashion giant to create a wholly-owned subsidiary in the country, where it has previously said it plans to open 50 stores.

Ottavio Missoni, who together with his wife founded the eponymous Italian fashion house famous for its geometrical patterns and colourful knitwear, has died aged 92.

Missoni, nicknamed Tai, was born in what is now Dubrovnik, in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the son of a sea captain and an Austrian countess. He was a student world athletics champion but when war broke out he found himself an infantryman, and was held a British prisoner of war for four years after fighting at El Alamein.

The seventh generation of the Asprey family to specialise in the sale of luxury goods, William Asprey, sits in a roomy office behind the shop, his desk and bookshelves brimming with books. They detail some of the finest collectibles, old and new, that money can buy – from auction catalogues, to a volume chronicling the works of one of the world's most exclusive jewellers, Buccellati, and a book about antique and rare steel watches recently exhibited by Francois Paul Journe. Huge paintings of William Asprey's father, John, and grandfather, Eric, adorn the walls.
