Hong Kong’s richest man Li Ka Shing’s property investment arm has bought 220-year-old UK pub and brewery company Greene King in a deal worth $5.59 billion.

CK Asset Holdings (CKA), founded by Li and chaired by Li’s eldest son, Victor Li Tzar Kuoi, will pay $3.28 billion for the brewery company, founded in 1799 and take on its debt, worth an additional $2.31 billion.

According to the Hurun Rich List, which tracks wealth in China, nearly half of the country’s 1,000 richest have seen their fortunes fall this year. The average wealth of the super-rich has dropped by 9% to $860 million (€665 million).

The tycoon’s replica town in Colorado comes complete with 50 buildings, including a saloon, jail, livery, church and train station – perfect for any aspiring cowboy.

Built on his 6,400-acre Bear Ranch property, it also features broad sideways and polished brass, according to the Denver Post.
