The world’s biggest brewer, AB InBev, says it will use only renewable energy and recyclable packaging by 2025, as part of an ambitious sustainability plan laid out by the company.

The new owner of Suffolk-based Aspall is Molson Coors, a US brewing giant says it will develop it into “the number one premium cyder in the UK”, a press release said. The cost of the acquisition has not been disclosed.

According to media reports, the Belgian family-controlled AB InBev has its eye on London-based SABMiller as its next major acquisition, following its purchase of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo in June of this year.

AB InBev was formed in 2008 when InBev purchased Anheuser-Busch Companies – a US family brewing business, with roots dating back to 1852.

Australian family-owned brewer Coopers has been crowned best liquor brand of the year and best full strength beer for original pale ale at the 20th annual Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA).

Coopers, the last major family-owned brewery in Australia, was also named best marketed beer or cider brand and its distribution company Premium Beverages received best off-premise liquor supplier of the year.
