They may be a dysfunctional family from middle America, but The Simpsons have brought together two family business behemoths, 21st Century Fox and Lego, who have launched a new toy brick set.
To celebrate 25 years since the animated family entered living rooms around the world, Danish third-gen business Lego has crafted a model of the Simpsons’ home, just as it appears on the hit series, as well as six figurines based on the show’s most beloved characters.
Details from the 2,500 brick set include the family’s pink car, which appears in every episode's opening credits, and a television featuring the children’s favourite programme, The Itchy and Scratchy Show.
Figurines of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and their neighbour Ned Flanders have also been released, along with accompanying accessories, such as Bart’s skateboard and a rogue nuclear bar from Homer’s work at the Springfield power plant.
Fox, part of Rupert Murdoch's media group 21st Century Fox, is also due to air a special episode of The Simpsons shot in Lego rather than its usual cartoon format in May.
The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening, has aired on Fox since its inception, and has since broadcast all over the world and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
Jeffrey Godsick, spokesman for Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, said: "We think Lego-loving fans of the show will be impressed with this collaboration that represents the best of both iconic worlds."
