Schnuck Markets Inc, the US family-owned supermarket chain, today announced the promotion of third generation Todd Schnuck (pictured left) to the position of chief operating officer. Six other executives were also promoted as part of the management restructure.
Previous to the reshuffle, Todd served as chief financial officer for 22 years and assumed the role of president in 2006. Scott Schnuck (pictured right), Todd's brother and company chairman and CEO, said: "The restructuring will allow me to concentrate on guiding the company forward while Todd will ensure that we continue working to enhance the overall customer shopping experience in our stores."
Founded in 1939 by Edwin and Anna Schnuck, the supermarket chain now has 15,000 employees and recorded 2008 sales of $2.5 billion. The company remains under family control, with both third and fourth generations working within the business. Schnucks is based in St Louis, Missouri and has 105 stores and 101 pharmacies across several US states.
