Campden Wealth returned to its programme of in-person meetings after 18-months of disruption throughout the live event industry with its 22nd edition of the Family Office and Investment Forum in London on 23 June.
The forum was a much anticipated coming-together of the close-knit Campden community of single family offices, private wealth holders and business-owning families for the first time in the capital since February 2020.
The meeting saw a packed schedule flowing through keynote addresses, interviews, specialist insight, round table discussions and importantly both structured and informal networking between attendees, Peter Newton (pictured above), director events at Campden Wealth, said.
“As a business we had to adapt quickly to the challenges of the last year-and-a-half and ran more than 167 online and virtual experiences across our global portfolio, but last week’s in-person forum goes to show there is no substitute for in-person, face-to-face networking, meeting and relationship building.”
Newton said the Campden Wealth team placed the need to run a safe and secure event at the very heart of its planning.
“Following UK government advice and guidelines, and working closely with the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, we developed a Health and Wellbeing Charter, unique to this event, which detailed all the steps we were taking in order to ensure the safety and comfort of all our attendees and staff.
“It was our goal to have this forum act as a pathway to our comprehensive schedule of European meetings in the second half of the year, to be able to demonstrate we’re able to run safe and secure forums and confirm the appetite for the Campden community to return to meeting each other in-person”.
Dominic Samuelson (pictured below right), chief executive of Campden Wealth, told delegates the organisation's global membership has strengthened and grown throughout the pandemic as families have reflected, bonded and shared knowledge and experiences with each other.
“We have all experienced a uniquely dynamic period in our lifetimes, which has thrown up challenges and opportunities in abundance for families all around the world,” Samuelson said.
“Each person in this room will have different stories and memories to recount both good and bad and it fills me with joy that we are able to gather here today to share and learn, connect and socialise together.”
Newton said the scene has been set for our next in-person forum, the 31st MedTech Investing Europe Forum on 21-22 September in Lausanne, Switzerland, closely followed by the 23rd Family Office and Investment Forum on 6-7 October in Geneva, Switzerland.
