Shari Redstone    
Notoriously controlling Viacom patriach Sumner Redstone retracted his endorsement of daughter Shari last year, meaning she may now never head the company.

August Busch IV   
As president and CEO of the US's biggest brewer, seventh-generation August Busch IV is used to being in the spotlight. Currently fending off talk of potential takeover by rival.

Aditya Mittal   
Less than 10 years after joining his father's business, Aditya was instrumental in Mittal Steel's acquisition of Arcelor, creating the world's largest steel producer. Currently CFO of ArcelorMittal.

Gina & Matt Gallo   
Third-generation sister and brother team running US winemakers. Family currently celebrating the company's 75th anniversary. Cousin Stephanie Gallo in charge of global marketing.

Jonathan Oppenheimer    
Director of DB Investments, holding company of diamond specialists the De Beers group. Benefiting hugely from current boom in luxury spending, it is achieving record production levels.

Jon Elkann   
Elkann became the chairman of IFIL, the Agnelli family's investment company, in May. A member of the fifth-generation, he became deputy chairman of IFIL after the death of his grandfather, Gianni, in 2003.

Victor Li   
Son of Hong Kong's richest man, Li Ka-shing, Victor is currently MD of real estate firm Cheung Kong, and deputy chairman of conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa, both part of the family empire.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum   
In February, Sheikh Hamdan was named as Crown Prince of Dubai by his father, Sheikh Mohammed. In 2006 he was appointed chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

James Murdoch   
In March, Murdoch gave up his post at BSkyB UK to become News Corp's CEO for Europe and Asia, prompting speculation he is being groomed to be his father Rupert's successor.
