Family businesses get UK political voice

UK family businesses are likely to have more of a political voice with the setting up of the first All Party Parliamentary Group for Family Business.

Launched on 28 March at the House of Commons, the group is sponsored by the UK-based Institute for Family Business. IFB said in a statement that the APPG will undertake activities like site visits and policy discussions to help MPs understand the operations and challenges of running a family business.

MP Chris Kelly, chair of the APPG and also a family business member said in the statement: “The new APPG represents an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the family business sector among MPs and give them a better appreciation of the challenges that they face.”

IFB is an independent and not-for-profit association established to support UK family businesses.
