Discover the company committed to building smaller, cheaper and safer nuclear energy for the future

Featuring a world-class leadership team, NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. is poised to help advance the way the world utilises nuclear energy.

Featuring a world-class leadership team, NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. is poised to help advance the Micro-Small Modular Reactor (μSMR) industry and the way the world utilises nuclear energy. μSMRs produce between 1 and 20 megawatts of thermal energy that could be used directly as heat or converted to electric power. Generating clean and reliable electricity for commercial use or for non-electric applications, such as district heating, water desalination and hydrogen fuel production, μSMRs are a highly adaptable and portable alternative to traditional nuclear reactors and diesel generators.

Now, NANO Nuclear Energy aims to progress its collaborative research projects towards development, rigs and models, zero-power reactors, and ultimately towards reactor manufacture and deployments. NANO nuclear reactors could be deployed to remote locations to provide energy to residential, commercial, major mining, industrial, shipping, oil and gas, military, medical use and construction projects. Additionally, the company looks to expand globally, especially in emerging growth countries that lack energy grid infrastructure.

NANO Nuclear Energy is a company emerging from the shared micro-Small Modular Reactor and Advanced Nuclear Reactor (ANR) ambitions of a world-class nuclear technical team filled with influential and foremost nuclear experts in the field, working alongside business and industry professionals, possessing strong relationships with both government and the private and public nuclear industries. The company is committed to building smaller, cheaper and safer nuclear energy for the future by incorporating the latest technology into its own proprietary novel reactor designs, intellectual properties, and research methods. Currently in technical development is ’ZEUS’, NANO Nuclear Energy’s first-generation portable, on-demand capable advanced nuclear micro reactor.

Featuring a fully solid core, removing heat through thermal conduction, eliminating the need for coolant and pumps, the reactor utilises the simplest design with the least moving components and ensures the immobilisation of fission products. ZEUS represents the future evolution of μSMRs and nuclear energy generation. The novel compact design will fit within an ISO container, taking advantage of the existing transportation infrastructure to allow for easier shipping and delivery to customers. The reactor will be modular and able to connect with local power grids or power systems, so multiple reactors can be deployed to an area.

However, that’s not all. NANO Nuclear is in the process of evolving into a truly vertically integrated company, as its ambitions lie not only with advanced SMRs, but also in other areas of nuclear energy, such as High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) energy fuel production and distribution, as well as uranium mining and more.

The desire for attainable nuclear power has grown in many parts of the world in recent years. For instance, in South Africa, there is an appetite for renewable energy to play a greater role, with nuclear power recognised as a clean energy source. For example, in his remarks in February, 2022, Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe announced that the Department of Mineral Resources & Energy will seek to request proposals for 2,500 MW of new nuclear capacity, where small modular reactors are to be considered for procurement. This is in addition to the numerous initiatives that the US, Canadian and European governments, as well as the UK, have announced recently. These include the Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act reconciliation package, which contains $369 Billion in funding to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, improve energy efficiency and, crucially, develop the country’s clean-energy infrastructure; a strategic plan on the use of SMRs released on March 29th by the governments of New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta; and the UK government’s backing of Rolls-Royce’s SMR project with a £210 million investment.

In the face of such growing demand, and in a bid to ensure that NANO Nuclear remains on at the forefront of the industry, the company has worked to develop relationships with governments and key personnel around the globe. For instance, the addition of Dr. Lassina Zerbo as Chairman of the Executive Advisory Board for Africa represents a massive step in the company’s goal of bringing its proprietary technology to the continent. A nuclear science diplomat and a geophysicist focusing on Africa’s response to global challenges, Dr. Zerbo currently serves as a Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board (RAEB) and previously served as the 3rd Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). As Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Dr. Zerbo fought to make electricity affordable to all and energy safer and cheaper through an ambitious program with the prospective to implement an Advanced Nuclear Reactor project for the country.

Additionally, NANO Nuclear continues to seek out and apply to various government grants, awards and various funding opportunities, and will continue to work closely and pursue additional government support on its journey on the Path to Zero.
