Australian family-owned brewer Coopers has been crowned best liquor brand of the year and best full strength beer for original pale ale at the 20th annual Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA).
Coopers, the last major family-owned brewery in Australia, was also named best marketed beer or cider brand and its distribution company Premium Beverages received best off-premise liquor supplier of the year.
Coopers was among top Asia-Pacific family businesses profiled in CampdenFB’s Top 10 Asian Family Businesses You Should Know About supplement published this month.
Coopers have continued to grow with revenues increasing 7.6% from 2011 to 2012 to reach a record AUD$186.3 million (€130.3 million).
Fifth-gen Tim Cooper currently heads the business, and many sixth-gens fill senior roles.
At the beginning of the year Coopers undertook an AUD$20 million expansion project at its Adelaide headquarters to allow it to more than double its production capacity from 71 million to 134 million litres annually.
